The ZSK twin screw extruder, the “forefather” of all twin screw extruders, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Werner & Pfleiderer, known nowadays as Coperion GmbH, delivered the first co-rotating, closely intermeshing ZSK twin screw extruder in 1957 – exactly 60 years ago. Since then, the ZSK extruders have undergone a transformation that was inconceivable 60 years ago.
Experience Coperion's innovative K 2016 presence covering new developments like the ZSK 58 Mc18 compact twin screw extruder version and the STS 35 Mc11 extruder specially designed for Masterbatch applications, both extruders equipped with highly accurate Coperion K-Tron feeders. Cutting-edge virtual reality and augmented reality applications highlight our innovative ideas for Industrie 4.0 solutions including modernization, optimization and network apps.
(K)Countdown 2016 - Industry 4.0 at Coperion
Plas.TV at Coperion - covering the preparations for K 2016 (Duesseldorf, Germany, Oct 19-26, 2016). Industry 4.0 will be a main focus of Coperion at this year's K 2016. Solutions and visions for all parts of the process chain of the plastics industry will be presented.
The strand pelletizer SP HD of Coperion Pelletizing Technology is designed to meet very demanding tasks, e.g. the pelletizing of highly abrasive, reinforced products. With a working width of up to 700 mm the strand pelletizer SP HD reaches throughput rates of up to 6,300 kg/h.
Automatic Strand Conveying System ASC – fully automatic transfer from die head to pelletizer. The modular design permits flexible and rapid adaptation to the requirements of the process. Designed for a wide range of materials and for fully automatic operation of high throughput extrusion lines.
The process section of ZSK twin screw extruders is designed as a modular system. It consists of several barrels in which the co-rotating screws operate. The barrels and screw elements are configured individually to the applications. Different process zones are created for conveying, plasticizing, mixing and shearing, homogenizing, devolatilizing and pressure build-up.
For conveying of fragile products, like for example coffee beans, the dense phase conveying system of Coperion is the ideal method to ensure gentle product handling.
Whether powders or pellets, it is only comprehensive knowledge and the right understanding of the complex behavior of bulk materials which enable the plant engineer to design bulk material plants which will function safely and operate economically.
Coperion and Coperion K-Tron are dedicated to providing the newest food processing technologies with an emphasis on reliability, food safety, and efficiency in process design. Our extensive experience and knowledge in the design and implementation of twin screw extruders, ingredient feeders, materials handling components, pneumatic conveying systems and packaging solutions are recognized throughout the world.
