Food manufacturers with high product quality and safety demands will especially benefit from this add-on solution for Coperion rotary valves, the RotorCheck 5.0. At the same time, RotorCheck can also safeguard conveyed product that requires periodic changes or if frequent cleaning cycles are necessary.
The RotorCheck’s monitoring principle provides maximum safety and the greatest convenience for rotary valve operation. As soon as the housing and rotor come into contact, an electroconductive connection occurs which the RotorCheck registers. Its electronics filter out random fluctuations, such as product-related measurement signal variations, while still reporting dangerous faults. In this manner, food manufacturers achieve better control over their conveyed material by preventing metallic abrasion and avoid potential contamination.
Low Space Requirement, High Ease of Maintenance
While signal capture on the rotary valve occurs directly, the RotorCheck 5.0’s evaluation electronics are located in the control cabinet. This physical separation reduces the rotary valve’s space requirement, while concurrently simplifying rotary valve operation and maintenance with the use of an extraction device. This feature is particularly useful in production environments where dirt, dust, heat, vibrations, moisture or electromagnetic waves may occur.
What’s more, the control system is now accessible even when the production area itself may not be accessed for safety reasons, e.g. while CIP cleaning is underway.
Convenient Operation
The RotorCheck 5.0 stands out not only for its high-quality components; its electrical functions are much more comprehensive than in earlier monitoring system designs.
Using an optional web-based application, the RotorCheck can be effortlessly modified to match changing production conditions. Using this interface, product properties or cleaning cycles can be varied and diagnosis takes place using this application as well. All data analysis collected by the contact monitoring system is easily accessible and can be evaluated and graphically represented, making a diagnosis more clear and convenient. Due to the fact that the operating data is cached in the control system, faults can be reproduced and analyzed at a later time. In addition, LEDs on the RotorCheck housing now visually indicate anomalies even more clearly.
With RotorCheck 5.0 contact monitoring new as well as existing rotary valves can be equipped with expanded features that can be modified for the increasing complexity and the rising degree of automation in modern industrial process systems.
