Due to the widely varying material characteristics of different types of calcium carbonate, the efficient handling and feeding of this material requires some expertise
The design of a feeding or pneumatic conveying system is heavily influenced by a bulk solid’s particle shape, size (aspect ratio) and particle size distribution as well as the particle’s roughness, hardness (abrasiveness), and density. In the case of calcium carbonate these characteristics vary widely depending on the source and production process of the individual bulk material. As a consequence, pneumatic conveying systems cannot be purchased "off-the shelf" and must be engineered for each situation individually. Laboratory tests are often necessary to help determine a material’s properties and behavior.
Coperion K-Tron has the necessary expertise for developing systems and providing components tailored to your specific CaCO3 handling and feeding needs within your production facility. In addition, we can provide full-scope material testing at our professional and fully equipped testing facilities, located around the globe.
