Masterbatches are widely used in various industries. Many applications require a consistent and above all high-quality product – both from a longevity and often also a safety standpoint. As a well-established manufacturer in India, Alok Masterbatches is an experienced expert in all types of high-quality masterbatches and special compounds for different end uses. This includes automotive, PPE, hygiene, fabrics, staple fiber, agriculture and geotextile products. For many years, Alok has closely worked together with Coperion. Jointly, we managed to set up reliable and efficient compounding processes that exactly meet the requirements in terms of product characteristics and quality of the end product.

The India-based company has installed a ZSK 26 Mc¹⁸ lab extruder as well as a ZSK 58 Mc¹⁸ which is used as a combination line for the production of specialty additives, white masterbatches as well as special automotive compounds. The ZSK 26 Mc¹⁸ twin screw extruder is installed at Alok’s Product Development Center in New Dehli, India, with the objective of testing formulations, developing products and verifying the quality of products.

Coperion’s ZSK technology exactly meets the prerequisites of these requirements. It is known for its high performance, and efficiency and comes with many smart features for easy cleaning such as a feed hopper with quick-release clamps or the easy-to-clean side feeder ZS-B. This is especially important for masterbatch production as frequent product changes are the norm in this field. Thanks to its modular design Coperion extruders can be modified and adapted to any requirements and are therefore ideal for nearly every compounding task. Alok’s products went through a demanding evaluation process and were approved by major automotive companies in India.

One key advantage of Coperion’s lab size machines is the safe scale-up to production scope. The results that are obtained in a test environment can be reliably transferred to a production scale. Therefore, Alok can offer the same and constant high product quality on both its lab extruder ZSK 26 Mc¹⁸ and its ZSK 58 Mc¹⁸ which was installed at its Surangi, Sivassa site, in 2021. Due to its good dispersion and gentle product treatment, the system is ideal even for highly sensitive applications while reaching the highest throughput rates. With this set-up, Alok Masterbatches can produce, among other products, high-end PP compounds for automotive applications.
