Twin screw extruders are highly effective tools for efficiently and uniformly applying shear to melt and mix thermoplastic compounds. However, a fine balance often exists between achieving optimal homogenization and exceeding material thermal limits. This presentation explores practical techniques and design features for reducing shear and melt temperature in co-rotating, intermeshing twin-screw compounding systems.
