More than 200 participants attended Coperion Middle East’s Technology Update 2023 in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, on November 14 and 15, 2023. Under the motto "How to Increase Efficiency in Polyolefin Manufacturing?", participants learned about the enormous potential that modern extrusion technology offers to optimize processes and resource consumption in the production of polyolefins.
In a mix of exciting presentations, internal and external experts from the industry examined the entire polyolefin production process – from bulk material handling to conveying, feeding and extrusion through to pelletizing technology. Potentials for reducing energy consumption were highlighted and ways to reduce the CO2 footprint in each individual process step were presented. We also showed how digital solutions can increase the efficiency of a polyolefin plant.
"Polyolefin manufacturers are faced with drastically changing conditions: this includes rising energy costs as well as the need to reduce the carbon footprint. These challenges are also an opportunity. With state-of-the-art equipment or by modernizing and retrofitting existing technologies, energy consumption in polyolefin production can be significantly reduced, sustainability increased, and CO2 emissions reduced. More efficient processes in combination with increased throughput will continue to be the key to success in polyolefin production in the future. And this is exactly what makes Coperion the right partner for polyolefin production equipment," says Claus Hermann, Head of Business Unit Large Extrusion Systems at Coperion.
The large number of questions during panel discussions and conversations during the breaks showed how great the need for information is in the area of increasing efficiency. Guests expressed their astonishment at the wide range of possibilities and their feasibility in their own companies.
