Advanced Static Classifier - Particle size control at high temperatures

Future Proof Adjustability

The Advanced Static Classifier is designed for gypsum calcining applications to control the particle size at temperatures while flash calcining or the removal of large feed contaminants during the flash drying process. This state of art static classifier will provide good classification even with large airflow variations and wide range of particle size controls from fine to coarse (e.g., 20 to 200 microns) separation. This new classifier can be equipped to be fully adjustable with remote control function for the most frequent control.

Key Features

  • Designed for large airflow variation required from natural gypsum to FGD calcination
  • Designed for application variation in fineness requirements for gypsum wall board stucco
  • Motorized vane angle adjustment for fine cut sizes, remote control capability
  • Adjustable/changeable internal sleeve height
  • Adjustable window opening for large flow variation

Market

Gypsum calcining market has been changing in recent years switching from FGD to natural gypsum in the Western countries and natural gypsum to FGD in the developing countries. Airflow required for the system varies greatly (up to 40%) due to the calcining requirement for FGD or natural gypsum. There is a need to fill the functional gap between conventional double cone classifier with limited adjustability without remote control and the turbine classifier with moving parts at high temperature environment.

Application

  1. This classifier can be integrated into a Raymond® Imp Mill Flash Calcining System for natural gypsum, FGD, waste wall board, or blend.
  2. It can be used to control the product top size, i.e., coarse end while fine end particle size is controlled by optimizing Imp Mill number of hammers, hammer arrangement, and mill speed.
  3. It can also be used as part of the Cage Mill Flash Drying System to remove contaminants from raw gypsum feed, where the classifier can make a steep cut of the coarse size contaminants.
